COWHIDE TRACEABILITY

At the Arzignano factory in Italy, the wet blue leather processing line begins with soaking and washing of raw hides, mechanical fleshing, followed by unhairing and liming, deliming and bating, and pickling to adjust the pH to 2.5–3.5. The core chrome tanning step: chrome powder is added, and the drum is tanned for 48–72 hours, transforming the hides into bluish-blue, heat- and moisture-resistant wet blue leather, which is then stacked and rested for over 24 hours. Finally, the leather is sammmed and shaved to a thickness tolerance of ±0.1 mm (increasing durability by 10 times), graded by quality, and packed or stored refrigerated, providing high-quality semi-finished materials for VALORO finished leather processing.
